This is my good friend Rigsy's cat Meg, who I photographed as a present for his 30th Birthday last month. She was really good at posing for me. I'm considering getting into pet photography now. If you would like your pet snapped, give me a shout :P Serious!

I've been nominated in the Irish Blog Awards 2009 for Best Photography Blog!  YAY!
I know livejournal is a bit old skool and I've been here for 4 years on 30th January, so I have decided to move to Wordpress and I am currently backing this journal onto it. Hopefully it will be finished in the next few weeks.

I would like to thank whoever voted for me, I really do appreciate it and thank you for taking the time to have a look at what I'm up to :)
 

Had a photoshoot with So Cow and Harlot DeVille on Friday. Both went really well. I've only edited some of the shots. I meant to spend today working on going through them but I decided to go to Whelans after Djing last night and then back to Aodghan's where I woke up at 3pm with my coat and bag on, clearly planning to leave before I passed out! Shots will be here hopefully tomorrow.
I'm meeting the lads from Director later to discuss ideas of the photoshoot I'm going to be working on with them for their second album.
I'm off to bed now, its late.


 

I got the sad news today that my favourite shop is closing its doors in a few weeks. Road Records has been the backbone of the music scene in Dublin for 11 years and it will not be the same without them. The amount of hard work by Dave and Julie has not gone unnoticed, but its unfortunate the way times have gone here in Ireland, and the availability of free music. Road was such a special place to me where I discovered a lot of new music for the very first time, by hearing it being played in the shop or listening on headphones for hours before deciding what to get with what little money I had. I spent most of my time as a teenager loitering around the vinyl, and if I went on the hop from school it was the first place I went when I got off the bus. Three Quarters of my record collection was bought in Road over the last 8 years and I rarely bought in Tower unless it was something I was dying for and Road didn't have in stock. I want to thank Dave and Julie for always being to sweet to me and all the nice chats about gigs and tunes. They always ordered in the records I wanted, or kept them by behind the counter. Their friendliness and knowledge will be sadly missed around these parts, and I really sincerely wish them all the best for the future and hope they are happy.
I urge you all to drop into the shop over the next few weeks and buy at least a 7" single and say goodbye and thanks to them.

YIKES!!!!!

Well its been a while! I do apologize for the lack of updates. December was an extremely busy month as per usual. I started working as resident DJ in the Clarendon bar on Thursdays, and now they like me so much they have given me Saturday nights too. Some wonderful gigs happened, Fight Like Apes in the Academy being one, which made its way into the Irish Times gig of the week which I've yet to scan in for the blog, but probably a bit late now :P I had a lovely Christmas and a quiet New Year just relaxing and taking the time to sort out my plans for 2009.

The Sunday Tribune put me on their hot list for 2009 so that's a nice confidence boost for my work this year (unfortunately they spelled my name wrong and said I work for Hot Press, but sure ah well it's the thought that counts. Thanks Tribune!)

It's very nice to be included on a list with some of my favourite things like Pandas, Watchmen and Grand Pocket Orchestra.

January is always fairly quiet gig-wise, so I'm lining up some photoshoots with So Cow, GPO, Sundara and Harlot DeVille amongst others.
My resolutions are to join the gym,  learn how to swim properly and not drown or have to be scooped out with a looped pole, sell my old records and cds and get new ones with the cash.
I'm also going to attempt to get my driver's license and finally buy a car. BEEP BEEP!

So Happy New Year to everyone that's reading this, and I hope 2009 is great year for us all :D

So here is the finished result of Fight Like Apes and the mystery of the golden medallion. The inlay folds out into a large poster as shown above. Album is released on CD and Vinyl on 26th September. GO OUT AND BUY IT!!!

AERO VS MORO return tonight  for a long awaited dj set in the hub. They will be playing minimal techno all night...you have been warned!!!
Did a photoshoot with The Civilians last week, so must stick them up on the journal soon, been mega busy painting Fight Like Apes inlay but should be complete by Friday. YAY!!!!
 I've booked my art exhibition in The Joy Gallery for Friday 12th December so have plenty of time to plan it out.

So...... I've been working my bum off on Fight Like Apes artwork! I completed the cover for their second single "Jake Summers" about a week ago and I'm really happy with it!   Spending the next two weekends completing the album inlay and cover which is going to be a huge job but really excited to get it done and finished. Its been a long time in planning so fingers crossed it will turn out amazing and everyone will be happy with it. I'm currently planning an exhibition of the Apes artwork and similar stuff I've been working on for November/December hopefully in The Joy Gallery. Here is a sneak peak cube from the single cover:



Got a job with Star Djs, so did my first night at The Academy last night which went really well, and I'm playing at a private function in The Academy AGAIN tonight!

Less than month left til I head off to New York! So very exciting! Writing up a list of all the things I have to do over there, first thing I'm buying is a Macbook and some new lenses. Looking forward to getting out of Dublin for a while, it can feel like a pigeon coup sometimes!
Not content with my trip to New York, I went ahead and booked flights to Florence in October for myself and Darragh during the week!!!! I've never been to Italy due to the fact any time I was supposed to go it fell through so finally I get to go and stuff myself silly with yummy food and wine!!! Flights worked out at only €125 return for 2 adults with Ryanair which is fucking mental!
I have some cool photoshoots in the pipelines including Halves, So Cow, Storkboy Choons, Colours Move and The Civilians.! Trying to cram in as much as possible before I head off!
